Back in the Summer I took a trip to Bodega Bay California, to get away from the hectic life of Utah and also to help my brother out on his PhD work with small fish. All in all it was a great trip going to the ocean at low tide in the morning to walk the tidal pools and lift large rock looking for fish. Then catching the fish with our hands and putting them in buckets to later do test in a salt water tank as to how well the could hear. After the extreme fishing each morning we would go into a small town to a bakery and have some fresh baked pastries. That was a lot of fun, then it would be rest around the small lodge and take trips to the point and stand on both sides of the San Andreas Fault. Just glad it did not rupture while I was there.
This is one of the little bays in the area it is all very picturesque. This is Bodega Bay, the waters are so shallow that they have to mark the channel that they dredge for the ships to come in.
Just up the coast a little one morning as I was heading to a Redwood preserve. This is just about to the Russian River. Several nice sea stacks and a small sand beach, which is some what rare in this area.
The majestic Redwoods, this was a small hike that my brother and I did. It was one of the only sunny days that we had.
More Redwood Trees
Some times new trunks will grow out of the old trunk, or around the edge of a dead tree.
This is part of the root ball of an overturned Redwood tree.
Cool knots almost face like in the bark of the tree.
These trees get large.
The next day we went and saw some ot the sites from Alfred Hitchcock "The Birds". Tippi Hedren was
in the area signing autographs so there were a lot of people at the Tides Wharf when at lunch there.

After Lunch we went over to Bodega, CA and walked around the town a little bit. There was a cool surf shop, and other little shops in the main part of town and then we headed over to the old school house to see if it was open.
We looked around the little gift shop they had in there and then walked around on the grass a little. Then we headed over to the little chapel in Bodega.
Unfortunately after this I had to travel back to reality and leave the easy life in beautiful northern California.
